The Social Kitchen
Project Goal:
Where Connection Brews
The Design Story:
Our client's kitchen transformation reimagined how their family came together at meal time and anytime. We lengthened and redesigned the island so guests could face each other while dining instead of sitting in a row staring out the window. Opening up the wall to the dining room filled the space with natural light, while custom casework created a see-through room divider with abundant storage and a relocated pantry.
A pantry reconfiguration made additional room for a proper coffee bar—essential, as my client loves his new title as "live-in barista." We also chose a classic color palette designed to stay current for decades, with panel-ready appliances that help the kitchen blend seamlessly into the living areas. With thoughtful spacing, we ensured that there was room for multiple cooks, enthusiastic guests, and yes—the dogs too.
"I wanted to create a kitchen that brings people together—where cooking is collaborative, coffee is ceremonial, and everyone (including the dogs) has room to move."
